Feb the 23rd 1863
Dear Uncle
Yours of the 16 inst came to
hand and I was verry glad to
here that you wer all well and
I am glad to inform you that I
am recovering my helth as
fast as can be expected there was
one hundred and fifty sick
arrived in town yesterday from
Nashville there was some from
my regiment that I know there
is 21 Hospitals in this city the one
that i am in consists of 17 building
and is all to accomadate 8 or 800,
patiants and it takes 80 nurses to
attend then besides cooks and
docters ward masters and an host
of other attendents all getting pay
from 130 dollars amonth down to
14 the daily expens of this Hospital
alone is allarming to contemplate
you spoke about sending me some
money this I do not want you to
do for I do not nede money for any thing
only to get writing material I
get all I want to eat and wear and
I think now I will get no pay for
two months yet unless I get to my
reg. before the first of March as
that is Muster day if I get there
in time to sign the muster roles
I will get my pay if not it will
put me back two months but
when I do get it I will send it
home for money is only nucence
to a soldier I was some what sur-
prised to here of Mr Fuller
seting up a store in berlin
the wether here to day is verry
cold the snow is 4 inches depeand
it has got quite a Mich. air with
it at present there came 150 more
of the rebbels last night wear very
well suplyed with them now
it is quite amuseing to think that
Mother Rice has got red of Sliney
I was glad to here that you fixing
up the Orcherd fence as soon as I get
my pay I will send you the money
I have not herd ay thing from
Daniel Wells in along time
whare he is now I do not know
Direct all letters to the
regiment offer this as I
will be there to get them
by the time you get this
