Regiment: 1st Michigan Light Artillery Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Bloomfield Ky Oct 6th 62 Brother John I take this opertunity to answer your most welcome letter which I received the 4th it found me on my taps tough as any bull I was sorry to hear that you was rather down the banks but hope you will be all right again soon well by darn I dont blame you for not volunteering under your circumstances for there is lots of men can leave home better than you can Well Hons we have been chasing these A   C Rebles for the last 6 233ks like thunder but we have not had a fight yet and I don’t know as we ever will well John we have been on the move for the last 6 weeks the reble army was getting behind us so we had to get out of there or they would cut off our provisions and I suppose you know that is the main thing they eating part I got letter from Lue the same day I got yours Well John my time is ½ out the 24th of this month I had as live be here as to be home for a man cant go anywhere without a pass at either place so the odds is the difference where a man is Well John how do you like a married life Bill rice is a paroled prisoner at camp chase (ohio) please write soon E B V M Well Net I am not going to write it all to john we are within 8 miles of the reble army and our officers expect a fight but I don’t care whether we have a battle or not.
