Dear Frankie and Mother,
I perume Mr. Sergent has got home by this time and has told you all about
me. I am still inproving in strength and flesh so that I can begin to feel quite like
myself again. I am in hopes of getting back to the Regt this week and then we
shall perhaps know very soon whether there is any chance to get a subistute
accepted or not and if there is not I shall try hard to get a furlough but my dear
Frankie we must not be to sure of success for we may get disappointed we will
hope on and hope ever. I afraid there is a very small chance of my getting out of
it but if I do not I am in hopes that I shall be able to get home a while this
summer But Frankie you must do all you can to cheer mother up and you must
write to me as often as you can. My dear I am afraid you do not write as often as
you used tofor I written you three or 4 times since I have been here and all I have
got was the one Mr Sergent brought me. Do not think Frankie that I am finding
fault with you but you don’t know how much good a letter from home does me.
Frankie you must not expect me until you see me for it takes a good while to do
any thing I the Army.
Well Frankie I guess I must close so good bye for this time I shall try hard
to get home.
From Your Own,
Charlie
