From Wm Slater to Miss Clark
I am happy today to
[ ? ] that we
received they old Nashville Mal to
Day at this time I have got three
letters on had 50 cents worth of stamp
in it but they are not enough for
I do
[ ? ] more then them it was a
verry large mal and packages
groves for they boys and different
things but I am sorry to day no shirt
nor sespenders for me as yet and
I be about halfe glad for I do not
no how I should cariey them if they
come back to you you must keep
them till I do send and then you
do as I told you before send them
as quick as you can and if you
you had of done so I would have had
Now but no matter I have got a
long for we dont no how long we are
going to stay in a plase and if you
do send me wat I do send for send
it as I say but I be a fraid it is lost
but I hope not I am verry glad to
hear you do not want for nothing
but that is more then I do and I
would of sent you or Ms Van. some
money before if I could of done so
but I sent as soon as I could and
I have a nother Hundred to come
or more as soon as I can get it as
I am determined that you do not
wand for nothing and if you have
not got any money I do not wat for
you to spend one cent with H. M Perin
I want you to take your money and
go ware you chose to spend it and
I do feel verry glad to think as Mr
Van dose buy the stuff for you and
look after the children it feels good
to me only to hear of it and money
is of no a count hear and I must
say to you that yesterday I lasted
of butter for they first time since
I left Michigan I sent a letter to
Mr. Van yesterday and told him
to tell you of us going to move, it
is every probibelty that we will go to
morrow morning so when ever we do
get there ware we are going to stay for
a short time I will rite and if you
have got those things readdy you can
send them if I
[ ? ] so but you can tell
Mr Van to try they pen as he did before
for I am in great want of it and I think
that head better risk it and if he
as not sent those other things not to
do till I send for them but you can
put me a few more stamps in
your next it is with wether hear now
and it seems that if I new wat you
was going to rite for most in every letter
I have sent a answer to wat you
have asked me before hand and
you never mentioned the stove at all
and one thing more I have to state to
you or ask if you do remember coming
in the shop to me and I would take
you and show you wat did belong to
me and how many times you would ask
and now when it is wanted you do not
no I would of though you would of none
how it is a hard matter for me to tell
every thing me hear and the stuff there I
would of rather of given any thing then
such a case should of curred and me
hear for my stuff wat I had here was
worth more then they money to me but
I hope and trust to god you will try and
take care of wat you can it as never
left my mind since I so Mr. Vans last
letter or rather the one that he sent hear
for I do want to look at my home if I can
only be my own person and will do so
and I no that I left my things in such
a shape but I could not help it when
it was to late yes I could fill three sheets
of paper but I must stop but you tell
Mr van about the pen I rote to him yesterd
ay and told him not to send its but you
tell hime to send ia dn I will try it for
I am in great want of it and you need
not stop riting rite any time Wm Slater
