Dear Friend,
Your most welcome
letter came to hand some
time since and was much
pleased to hear from a Dear
Friend and all so to hear
that you are in good
health. My health has bin
veary good since my
arrival here you are right
when you speake of my loneliness
For it is so with me as soon
as you send your likeness to me
the time will not be so
Lonesome for then I will
have something to chear
my lonely heart in this
note you will find enclosed
my Photograph which is
very Darbey taken
but am in hops in a few
days to have a better one
taken this is the best I could
do at the present.
I hope in
your next letter to receive yours
in return you say that you
are going to spend the
summer with your friends.
I hope that you will have a
good time and remember
me as your every true friend
and be sure and write as
often as you can I should
like very much to have

Dear friend I aske one favor
of you in not to much trouble
that is to call and see my
children before you go away
to your friend. Mrs Johnson
she wiould be very glad
to see you. We are having
very pleasant weather
down hear and there
is no prospect of us leaving
this camp in sum time
to come nor expect to see
but neary little fighting
according to reports.
I hope to return to my home
this coming winter in good
spirits and health and
hope for our mutual enjoyment
through life to the end.

this time by sending my love
