Dear Sister Mett
I received your
kind letter dated the twenty
first and was very glad to
hear from you and to hear
that you was well I am well
as usual and enjoying my
self as well as I can under
the circumstances I received a
letter from Nettie to day and
was very sory to hear that mother
is so sick but I can only
hope that she will soon
be better
I should like to
be to home now very much
to see mother and get
acquainted with Uncles Sabin
and Norman but it cant
be and so I must be contented
with thinking and hearing
from you all I think of
home and you a great deel and
the times we used to have
during our short acquaintance
I don’t know as I ever had
as good a time in my life
on the same length of time
did not we have one or two good
sleighrides especialy one night come
my home from lisban and
going for that matter but I
like it a little the best comeing
home but all I can do now
is to think of times past
and gone and wonder if
I shall ever have such times a
gon I would give a one final
to see Mary I bet it is
getting so dark I shall have
to stop till candle light or in the morning
Wednesday Morning
How are you this morning and
how is mother better I hope
it is a clowdy morning and
has the appearance of more rain
it rained pretty hard last
night and I was glad I
wasent on guard I don’t know
hardly what to write this morni
-ng we haven’t any news of importance
laitly the twenty first have
gone out after Wheeler he
is some where between here and
Nashvill he has burnt the
elkriver bridge that is the
reason we haven’t had our
mail for the last week they
were a fraid to send it
I hope they will corner him
and serve him as they did
Morgon. I hope it will be
so you can go to school this
fall and may be it will be
so you can I am sure I will
do all I can for you and
I am sure I will radily excuse
you for not writeing oftener
if it cant for I am sure and
had not ought to quarrel a
bout it so we will make up friends
and not quarrel till the next
time tell Mary I think it is
a bout time she answered
my letter if she haint forgotten
me and if she has just
remind her that thare is such
a being yet please write
soon and remember you always
have my kind wishes hopeing
for the best
