Dear Mett

was very glad to hear from
you I am well yet and waiting
very patiently to start home
we dont know when we will
go yet. thare is a thousand and
one reports but none of them
afical, one is that Shermans Army
is going to Louisville to be muster-
ed out. but I dont believe it
yet, I am inhopes to get home

know as I will. If I dont I
guess I can have one of our own,
I would like to be thare to visit
your school first rate and see
you as a teacher
I received a letter from Nettie
the other day she appeares to very well
contented in her own capaseaty as
base housekeeper. I havent had any letter from
mother in a long while Nettie said she
was still getting better I suppose I
must tell you something of our
trip from Raliegh here we left

to Richmond we laid over thare

Armier and especialy Shermans
most of the men wore thur old
clothes right the [ ? ]
of the Potoma army with their
clean clothes white gloves
and paper collars we are camped on
this side of the river now I was
down town yester day and went through
the Cappitall and Pattent office they
are both very nice buildings the
Cappital is by far the nicest
building I ever saw. Washington is
more of a city than I ever
thought it was. it is pretty bussy
now with so many Soldiers here
but I hope they will soon be
thimed out they are discharge ing
some now. the boys
are all well from our neighborhood
Sabin is well and tough as ever
now I dont know what I shall
do to finish out my letter for
I cant think of any thing to

to stop I shall have to hury
to get it done for to days
mail you havent said word
about Mary B in a long time
I hardly know whether she is in
the Land of the liveing yet or not
if she is give her my best respects.
I guess for the want of something
to write I shall have to stop.
very respectfuly yours in haste
