I am well yet and so is the rest of the boys except Sabin and he is most well now but he has been pretty sick he was taken with some kind of a feaver at Cheraw S.C. but he is all right now only he is pretty [  ?  ] the rest of the boys are all tough we have been on a very long march since I wrote last we started from Savanah the 29th of January and went to bufort S.C. by transport so you see I had a ride on the beg mater from Bufort we marched to the Augusta R.R. a little a [  ?  ] Branchall and tore up the track most to Augusta then left the road and went to Columbia and Burnt that town and the state buildings then from thare to [  ?  ] and from thare to Chesaw from thare to Fayatville N.C. we tore down a splendid arsenal thare that used to belong to Uncle Sam and from thare here [  ?  ] long we will stay here is more than any of us know the talk is we are going on the Rail Road if we do probably we wont have to march so hard vry soon I hope not. we lived one the country all the time [  ?  ] much we passed one [  ?  ] very good country but the most of it is [  ?  ] all fine and swamp if a [  ?  ] could live on [  ?  ] he could get pleanty of that I guess the [  ?  ] are a hant plaid whare one came for the army destroyed every thing burnt the [            ?            ] and bridges took all them [       ?       ] horses and cattle. thare whent much fighting until we got must here when the rebs made a stand and faught a pretty heavy battle the report is they lost very heavy and then had to skedaddle. I was very sory to hear of mothers lameness but hope she may soon be well I should like to have been thare to take the gard at that slighing last winter or I did the winter before I haven’t seen a flake of snow all winter hardly it is getting quite warm here now the peach trees are all in bloom and have [       ?       ] some time I should like very much to be thare during the shugar season I sincerely hope the war will end by next fall the general opinion is that it wont last much longer I don’t see how it [  ?  ] for they cant herd any thing [       ?       ] Sherman has drove them all the way from Atlanta to this place.
