I received your letter dated the 6th and was very gald to hear from you. I am glad you have got so good a chance to go to school. I guess Lamont is a good place to go to school. I think it is a good chance for you if you have a good teacher. You did not tell me who your teacher was a going to be. I would like to be thare myself, but I think I will wait untill I finish my milletary school and then see a bout it— We have had pretty cold weather yesterday and to day but I dont think it will last long. Every thing passes off after the old sort, nothing new as I can see. We have got the Co. Clerk in our tent. He is a first rate singer and he plays the quittar so you see we have nice music. We are going to draw our Guns to morow. I supose the Rebs must look out but I dont think there is much danger of our Regament being called into action. I am very sory that I cant except you invitation in regard to the warm shugar. I beg to be excused this time as my surcamstances are such that I can not posably attend. I think if I was thare a few minutes I could make sad havor a mong the maple molases mincepise and so. I am very sory to hear that Mart is so poorly. I supose John Marshal is having a nice time as ever. Tell Harley I think it is a bout time I got a letter from him and father to. I havent wrote to Mary yet although I supose I ought to. I should like to hear from her first rate. I wonder if she thinks it is most to light yet, I dont believe she could think so—– I am sory it is so lonesom thare now thare aint much chance to get lonesome here, I never had time pass a way so fast in my life. The old recruits was paid off the other day. The new recruits did not get any pay this time. I dont know when we shall leave here probably not in a good while. I am well enough satisfide here. We have got good quarters and plenty to eat. I cant think of any more to write to night. The boys are all well as usual. You must keep up good spirits and not get the blues. Write often. Write good long letters/ you dont know how I like to get letters from home. Well me all the news. Write often Think often of your brother George Frank Wells got home from the hospital
