Dear Sister
I received your
letter day before yester day
and was very glad to hear
from you and to hear that
you was well and enjoy
ing your self so well
I am well as usual and
enjoying my self first rate
I am at Chattanooga to
day I came down on a
raft our detachment has
all got marching orders
but our company they have
gone up the river to get
out logs all but what
is to work in the mill
and a few others
I am
going up the river a gan
to morrow Ike and Wells
and the rest of the boys
are usualy well they expect
to go to morow to the
front I think our company
will be apt to go in a little
whill we have pretty good
times up the river though
it is a good deel better
than down here it is very
unhealthy here now thare
is lots of the boys sick
thar was died from our company
a few day a go. it
is getting pretty hot weather
here now you said you had
not had a letter from
me in a long time I write
often I am sure I try to
write as often as once
a week I wrote you one
last week and sent
you a pen. after Sabin
saw the pen I got he
thought he would send
for one to so he sent for
one first like the one I got
and when it came it was
a
[ ? ] pen a good deel larger
than yours and some better
if I had not sent you ours
I would send it back and get
a better one but it is to
late now but I will make
it up some other time
I am glad to hear that
you enjoy your school so well
I should like to have
ben thare to visit Ladies
school with you and
Mother but never mind
I will be home some time
if ever and then I can
go to school we keep
a getting favorable
news from Richmond I
guess the Rebs will have
to give up after a while
it is hard to tell how soon
though the quicker the sooner
I supose I cant think of
much to write to day I
on a way from home here
it seems more like home
up the river with the other
Boys diner is ready so
I shall have to go or
lose my diner and I
cant a ford to do that
