Dear Sister
I havent had any
letter from you in so long I
thought I would write and let you
kno how and ware I am i
am at Nashville as you will see
by this I believe the last time
I wrote to you was to Washington
we went to Louisville and staid
a spell and got our pay and
thought from thare we would go
home but in stead of that they
sent us farther south
we arrived
here the last day of June and
went to camp then the orders came
to go into Baracks at the different
Forts and the boys did not like
to have the regiment broke up
and they had quite a mutiny
but it did not amount to
much thare was a few
[ ? ]
out and they sent them down to
the Tr
[ ? ] Marshal company A and
our company are here at Fort Negly
in the Baracks now, it is a pretty
good place and quite close to town
how long we will stay here is more
than I can tell but I hope is
will be until we go home yester
day was the fourth but it was the
dullest fourth I ever saw thare
was nuthing going on in town
all day thare was a
[ ? ] out
in the woods but I did not go
out I went down to see them dance
in the evening they southern styl
of dancing is a great deel different
from ours. the sitasens here wont
hardly speak to a fellow here they
are such big Rebs I wished that
I was up in Gods country and
see if they would speak to solder
thare I don’t see much prospects
of getting home very soon now
thare is a good deel of talk that
we are going to work here I hope
not for I think the work plad
out when the war plaid ut
it is awful warm weather
here now I am glad we
don’t have to march now for
we never could stand it
I was realy in hopes when we were
at Washington that I would be
home the fourth but I had to
give it up thare was quite a
number of our Regament deserted
at Louis vill and I dont know
but they did right for I think
we aught to be discharged I cant
see the use in keeping so much
Army as thare is any way especially
engineers all the rest of the engs
that we know of is gone home
and we have to stay
I would like very much to
visit your school some of those
very warm days but you never
have given me an invitation yet
and I don’t think I shall come with
out one right a way when you
do that I will invite you to
go to the Theatre. thare is a good
theatre here every night but I
dont suppose you will go any way
Sabin and the rest of the
boys are all well Sabe thinks he
is most racked because he could
not be home the fourth excuse
this this poor letter for it is a
perfect bedtime here and one cant
neather think now write write soon
from your true friend and brother
