Dear Mett
I just received
your letter of the twenty fourth
and was more than glad to
hear from you and to hear
the you and the folks were
well and to hear our money
was all right for it is
the hardest earnt money I
ever had two fifty belong to
Sabin and two fiftys to
me , we are still in the
barracks and trying to pass
a may the time as best we
can
I am
[ ? ] yet
but not much sick the dr
says my lounges are effected some
thare is some talk of getting
home before long
[ ? ] I
am a fraid it is all talk
thare is a good of talk
that we are going before or
by the midle of next week
I hope we will for I am
getting tired of solgering in
time of peace it is such
dull business I never was
so much discontented
since I have been in the
army and I cant help
eather but I am on a
worse than the rest of the
boys for they all want to
get home as had as I
[ ? ] or get out of the army
any way, I have been down
to town to day to
Church and herd a splendid
choir then I went down to
the Sewane house, with other
members of Co. D and took dinner I
had a first rate dinner paid
a first rate price for it and
came back to the barracks and
found a letter waiting for
me from you and I was
more than glad to get one
for I haint had one in a good
while I haint had one any
may direct from home since
I left Washington and I began
to think they had forgotton
me I would like to be thare
to visit with Aunt Calista
first rate. I bet time passes
slowly a way we have
been all most a month
in Nashville and I am quite
competent we wont have to stay
another month. I herd to
day the tenth Cavelry was
comeing here in a few days
on their way home I believe
I would all must be tempted
to apply for a furlough if
I thought I would get one
thare is twelve or fourteen of our
company gone home on a furlough
now Jerome Huntly for one
he lives at Berlin Myron C.
is acquainted with him, I
haven’t much more room nor
much more to write so I
guess I will stop for this
time. now do write often
and long letters good by for this
