Regiment: 1st Michigan Engineers Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Crosses Landing July 20th 1864 how are you Met, how is the folks. I am well yet and enjoying my self as well as can be expectted this warm weather it is pretty warm here now we are haveing as warm weather as they usualy have down her in the fore part of the summer the sitasens say it is the warmest summer they have had for a good many years so far. I received your letter to day dated the 12th I was very glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well I received a letter from you only two or three days a go I answered it so these two letters will not be a great way a fort but I thought I would answer it for I am bound to answer all the letters I get any way wheather I say much or not I am glad oyou got the ring all right if you did not get the pen I sent the pen a good while before I did the rings I sent it in June sometime I guess a bout the middle I don’t remember exactly what what time it was a very pretty little gold pen with silver halde and pencil it is a good deel like Netties you may get it yet I directed it to Lamont if you don’t get it I don’t know what I will do a bout it unless I send another one you must exuse me if I don’t write much this time for thare aint any news in here in the woods nor any thing going on we are cutting and drawing logs yet I haven’t time to write any more to night but I will try and finish it in the morning Thursday July 21st I have now a few minutes to spare and no but a few for I have just got in from work and the mail is going out in a few minutes I have been sawing logs the fore noon and it is awful hot but it look as if it would rain this after noon I hope it will so as to make it a little cooler Sabin is well yet with the exceptions of his eyes they they are pretty had he is so he dont work now Myron was quite sick yester day he thought he had go the ague he is a good deel better to day the boys are genuly pretty healthy now the mail is ready to go out and I must close write soon and excuse this poor letter good by for this time George
