Dear Sister Mett

we cherished at Louisville are
all dashed to the ground now
for we have ban sent here
and gone to work on the
[ ? ]. I regret now ever enlisting
in the engineers for we
are shaved a round at
the will of the high oficals
without mercy.
I s
[ ? ] in the
paper an order to muster
out Shermans army which had
aught to include us but
I suppose it want for me are
in Gn’ Thomases Army now
thare is a great deel of dis-
-satisfaction in the rigament
thare has quite a number of
the boys took frenah leave
and gave home, on the argue
ment that the war is over
and it is time to go home
a very good argue ment I
think don’t you I cant see
the use of working an Forts
in time peace, but I had
rather stay here than go any
farther south ar some of
the Michigan regaments

we have got comfortable
quarters here. we are staying
in barracks we arrived here
the first of June. a
[ ? ]
number of the boys have
got furloughs and I have
all most a mind to apply
for one I would like to
have been on the fourth
but it could not be
I spent my fouthe down
town most of the day and
took my dinner at the
Swanes house and went down
and saw the Tenasee
[ ? ]
in the evening
but I believe I have told you
this
[ ? ] before thare is a
very good theatre here and
I wish you was here to go
to night you must
excuse this poor letter for
it is all most dark
dark to write and the
mail goes out early in the
morning. the fourth Cavelry
was discharged here a few days

town some whare but I
haven’t seen him yet I
suppose you ar very glad your
school is so near out I would
like to
[ ? ] thare the last day
see your school and your self for
that matter, I haven’t had any
letter from our folks since
I can remember hardly you must
give them a scolding for me
for I don’t feel very good
natured these days Sabin
