Dear Mother
I now sit down
to write you a few lines to let you
know how we are getting along in
leading this kind of a life, we left
Marshall Tuesday morning between
2 & 3 O’clock AM, and arrived at De-
troit 7 OClock PM, we could not get
any dinner there more than a lunch
we got a good dinner at Owosso 80
miles below detroit we got in to
Grand Rappids about 3 and then we
marched up to the barracks and
there we were examined, we had lots
of fun to you better believe, we were
all formed in a line and each one
had to pull his rags we all
passed the examination first rate
Lewis Watterman is all right now
I think, I must bring this short
letter to a close by bidding you
all good bye give my love to all
of the enquiring friends
P.S.
Dave was standing on the car plat-
form and lost his hat off, Frank
is writing on the other half of this
sheet, one of the boy is sick to
night marshall boy
Good Bye
CH Potter
