Dear Father & Mother
I received your letter
last night and was glad to
hear from you. I got a letter
from you last satturday dated
Oct 22
nd which had been a long
time on the way I answered it
sunday and send it to Detroit
supposing you were there. this letter
and
and all the rest you have
sent me have been opened by
the same person C.H. Potter
I have not had my leg broken
yet I got kicked on my leg last
week but Mr Merrill had some
ointment that cured it in a
hurry. Wing Agnew just started
for home. Russel Darrow left
here sunday night onbe known
to any one I guess, the boys
call him a deserter he went
home so wing told us
Sunday afternoon we went down
north to visit a haunted house
I told all about the house in
my other letter which you have
got by this time. we are in our
tents now there is about 4.00
tents piched on our camp ground
I think we shall remain here
untill spring because I cant
believe any thing the officers say
we shall either stay here or move
to Kalamazoo. if we go to Kalamazoo
we shall now pretty soon
we have got all of our uniform
now throughout I was on guard
last night guarding horses there
is nothing new any more than what
I have writen the boys are
all well and enjoying good health
I hope we will go to Kalamazoo
the officers took a vote last night
to see whether they should go to
Detroit or Kalamazoo we are going
to the latter place.
I will send in this a receipt
to show that I am a soldier
Good Bye.
Your Son
