Dear Father
Wishing to hear
from home once more and
not knowing how to do so
without writing another letter
to you. it has been a long time
since I have heard from home
I have not received any answer
from the last letter I wrote
some time ago. it was before
we left Franklin. there is no
news more then we have a fight
evry day or two if you read
of any skirmishing that the Kentucky
Cavalry has done in this part you
may know that our Regt was
the one that done the work
and
while they stop in the rear
then the next day it will come
out in the Nashville & Louisville
papers how the Kentucky Boys
done so well. to tell the truth
the largest part of the Kentucky
troops are a set of cowards there
has been several killed & wound
ed in our Regt of late.
Company M. is all right
& tough as a nut accept wing
he is in the Hospital yet. I was
down to Nashville Thursday & Friday
could not get a chance to see
him. Burt Spaulding has got
sore feet. he is the only man in
our Co but what is able for duty,
they tell me that Miss Louise
Hill has been getting married
& to Lt Bugbee of the 25
th it
is the best news I have heard
in a long while. well I have
written about enough for this
time in fact I have written
all there is to write.
we have been payed up two
month more up to the first
of May. you will find at
J.C. Frinck office. that is if
it goes through all safe & sound
$35.00 thirty five Dollars sent
by express to you. you can
use the money I sent home
the way you think best. keep
& use it yourself if you wish.
give my best respect to all
enquireing friends. Love to
all of our folks
Yours Truly
CH Potter
