Regiment: 2nd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Benton Barracks Sunday                   Jan 26th 1862 Dear Father I take this opportunity to write a few lines to you to inform you of our health which is very good. hoping these few lines will find you all the same Henry T. – is getting along slowly he sits up now a little there is nothing new any morre than there was when you was here. I suppose this letter will find you home all safe, that afternoon you left I drilled from 2 OClock untill 6 on horse Back that same afternoon we drew one of them white coats & 2 Pair of socks & one grey shirt & one double Blanket they are good Blankets best I have seen, I think I have got a good supply of socks now only seven pr I am not a going to write a long letter this time give my best respects to all Yours Truly Charles N.B. the boys talk rather strong of going on that gun boat, we had farm potatoes & fried beef for supper Bully for our cook
