E. P. Potter Esq
My Dear Sir,
I am in receipt of
a letter from the Adjutant General
of the date of the 17 stateing that
Charley
[ ? ] has been seen
forward to the commanding
officer of the Regt
[ ? ] you heard from
him. The request is that he
be ordering to report to Kalamazoo
but I find it is doubtful
whether he can be mustered
in until they get, 120 men
of which they
[ ? ] about
8 or 10.
The Capt said to me yester
day that the officer had now
about
[ ? ] all their
[ ? ]
& could not work
[ ? ]
until they had some. I
thought perhaps you might be
able or willing to advance
[ ? ]
[ ? ] Charleys op.
[ ? ] trouble is that
the Company cannot be mustered
[ ? ] 120 men & are
consequently without pay
so that it is important all
[ ? ] that, the men be got
if possible.
What can you do. if you
would like to do any thing
before Charley
[ ? ] a part
[ ? ] $50 would be
[ ? ] feeling
but you must do as you think
but about the whole matter,
[ ? ]truly [ ? ]
