Dear Father
I have truly to
rejoise in this privilege of writings
you, & while I assure you of our good
health. I hope you will remember this
realised as a great Blessing. & I must
acknowledge that we are enjoying evry
comfort that a soldier can expect. I
have plenty of hard bread leftafter
evry meal. I said we were all enjoying
good health but I am mistaken for
Wing Agnew is sick has been quite
but I believe he is on the gain slowly
go on a scout almost evry day & have
a great plenty of skirmishing to do. I
have not got time to write much. this
morning which you can see by my writing
I dont know as you can read it but
excuse haste & a poor pen although I
wont take $2. for my pen. you will
find enclosed in this ($15.00) fifteen Dollars
it is unsafe to send money in a letter
or any other way I thought I would venture
this much & if it get through all right
it will make $100.00 dollars I have sent
home I believe. I have got $40.00 more
that I want to send to you but hardly
know how to send it if you think I
had better risk it in a letter a little
at a time or all at once I will let
it come as soon as I hear from this
I suppose you have heard about our
taking a Rebel camp the other morning
with 128 prisnors& as many horses a lot
of niggars & mules I saw it published in
the Louisville paper this morning. I will
bring this to a close hoping it may
find you all well. give my best re-
spects to all we are having very warm
weather now. it is raining to day.
