Dear wife it is with pleasure
that inow sit down to wright
afew lines to you to let you
know that iam well at present
and hope thes few lines may
find you the same we have verry
fine wether here at present but it
has been verry rough ireceived alettr
from you last night and it was
agreat pleasure to me to hear from
one ilove so well you must reme
mber that reading your letters is the
greatest part of my enjoymet down
here and it seems to be the case with
the most of the boys here for they
think more of aletter than anything
else it is pur happyness to hear
from loved ones so far away but idont
want you to think by this that
that iam homesick for ihave never
felt the least bit homesick since
ilift Jackson and idonot
think ishall as long as iam sincere
in the blief that iam engaged in
agood cause and that ican trust
in God to bear me out in doing
so iexpect to have some hard fighting
here soon it is generaly believed
here that this summer will put
an end to the war and the army
of the potomac will do the most
of the fighting genal Grant
has command her now and gener
Webb has comand of this corps
and he has two little twin
girls about 4 years old and they are
very handsome they make me think
of my own dear children that imy
never see again but iwill trust
God for that irote you yesterday
and sent you forty dollars and
iwant you should right as soon
as you can and let now whether
you got the money or not
because it will be some time
before ican send any more
