Dear Wife I now take the
opertuenity of writing a few
lines to you to let you
know that I am in good

hope these few lines will
find you and little Abby
injoying the same blesing
and all the rest of the
folks I have not received
but one leter from you
yet I hope you will get Walter
to rite to me for all the
boys Get leters but me
When you write tell me
all the news You can I
shall rite as often as I
can we are marching every
day or so from one plase
to another the wether is
very dry and dusty hear the
have not had any rain to
amount to anything since
last June so you can juge
for your self wee struck
camp on friday morning and
marched to this place the cuntry
is mostly deserted of the
inhabioans the men are in
the army Wee marched through
apace caled Critenton a small

What is going on in than I do
Give my kind love to Walter
and Abby and litle Ida and
tell them that I hope the
time Will soon come when
the war will be over and peace
restored to Our once happy
land the people in Michigan
know nothing about the war
the cuntry heare is under
Marshall law the people are
in a fix the rebles steel
