Dear Wife
I again take they opertunity of writing you a few lines to
let you know that I am Still in they land of they living We
left Kentucky on they 14 of April I saw they Eighth Regiment
and they Second and They Seventeenth and Twentyfith Michigan
Regiments I met with a good maney of my Old friends in they 8
th
I saw Lim Miller and Dentons Boy theyare both well tell Mrs.
Walter Windiate that I saw Lim and hee is looking first rait
tell Bill Parker that Mark Cline is Well and though hee has been
in a Battle and never got a Scrach yet Mark and I had to take a
speck they are in Lebanon Kentucky Wee came from Lebanan on
they Cars But I was glad when Wee arrived heare for wee was
crouded so in they Cars Nashville is a large city John
Chamberlan is hear But I have not seen him yet I saw Andrew
Bissell to day he is a working in they United States Armery hear
a Repairing guns I expect to see John Chamberlan before long it
wee Stay hear very long Wee have not Benn sind to aney Brigade
yet So I cannot tell weather wee shall Stay hear or go to
Murphysbourgh yet or not Wee Belong to General Rosecrance
Armey now Dear Hannah I have not received aney letter from you
or Walter in a long time I sent your twenty Six Dollars Before I
left Lexington by Joel. Toms of Pontiac and I never Received
aney answer from it Since I also sent you twenty dollars by
express from Lebanon and I should like to know if you had
received it or not I have rote three leters to Walter and Hee
has Either as not answerd them or I have not received them Tell
Walter and Abby to write to me and I will answer them You must
excuse me for not writing to oftener Wee have had some very
hard marching in Kentucy We marched from Lexington to Danville
then wee marched from Danville to Nicholasville we marched from
there to Camp dick Robison from there to Lancaster and from
there to Craborchard and Wee marched from Craborchard to Sumerset then
from theare to Stanford then from to Danville again from there to
Lebanon were I met with they eighth Regiment and they other
Michigan Regiments and 79
th New York Regiment Generall
Burnsides Commands in Kentucky now wee were exchanged for they
two Tennesse Regiments lith and 22
nd Michigan Regiments have
marched about all over Kentucky but I think that that Kentucky is
about thyey Best State Land that I ever saw they Peach trees
all in full bloom in Kentucky in they Southern Pourten of they
state they are is very large Peach Orchards But not many
Apple trees thare is some Peach trees that they Cuntrey looks
pink for I never saw trees look pirteyer they trees are
considerable earler in this state grass looks very green whare
it has a chance to grow But every thing shows they signs of War
fences are all gone they trees begins to look very green I saw
they farmers Planting Corn in Tennessee this is a very hansome
place We staid last night in Nashville to day Wee One mile
South of they City and pitched our tents But I do not know how
long wee Shall Stay heare We Shall go to Murphysburough to join
Generall Rosecrants advance fourses if wee go from hear Dear
Hannah you must kiss little Abby for mee now Hannah I wand yhou
to let mee know if you have received they money I have sent you
forty six Dollars 26 by Mr toms and 20 by Express making in all
forty six dollars in all and I you to let mee know if you have
received they above mentioned money or not Now please let me
know all they news you can now give my love to Walter and Abby
and tell them to write to me and I will answer them now I will
inclose a foitygraph of Lieut Drake of our Company
I will have to bring this to a close by Wishing you all good luck
