Colonel Oliver
Dear Sir
On receipt of this I
wish you would be so kind as to get the sum
of Twenty five from Maurice Royer which I
gave him to give to my friends in Detroit
and which he appropriated to his own use
I have witnesses to prove it to that effect that
I did give it to him my Captain knows of it
I am detailed here at the Military Prison
Fort Pickering Tenn and as my time is almost
out I take this opportunity to write to you and
if you be so kind as to get the money for
me as I much need and as soon as I get
my Discharge I intend setting up in a little
business as I am afraid it would be too cold
for me in the North my health being bad
By so doing you will greatly oblige
me and wishing you every such success
I am Dear Sir
