Dear Friend Kate
I received your letter with
much pleasure but was sorry
to hear so bad news as it
brot but you must take it
as eeasy as posible it is true
you lost a good father but
you didnt expect to always
have him to live with he was
prety old and I got a letter
from Heck and he said that
he was sick and when I had
went about twenty days without
geting any letter from you
I thought that there was
something wrong and I found
it was so
to day is Friday and if I
hadnt got any letter to day
I said that I wouldnt
write another letter while
in the service and I think
that it would have
[ ? ]
a long time before I should
have wrote for I had some
fifteen out and hant had
any for one week till I got
yours but you are excusable
under the circumstances
you said you would like to
have me back there to see how
lonesome it was but I had
rather be there when it is all
chearfull and when I could
see that smile on your face
that was ther on the fourth of
last july I remember well
how it looked for there hasnt
one day past without my seeing
it and I hope you
would
will have as good a time on
the coming forth
But I will ask you one
question and it is this
will if I should be there
on the fourth of july will
you except of my company
not that I think of being
there but you dont know
nor neither do I when you
get this write all the news and
answer part of my questions
From S D Mills. To C Hamilton
Good bye write soon
you asked me who the
choice of my life was ask
and then think and you
will get the one that is my
choice if no one has any
objections Ca. Ha.
