Dear friend Catharine
your letter of the 11
th I received
on the 15
th and was glad to
hear from you and to hear that
you was at home and I wish
that I was there now for I am
sick and the doctor says that
I will halfto go to the Hospital
in the morning if I dont get
any beter it is with a bad
cold on my lungs and they
are awful sore and have bin
for over one week but I felt
beter this morning but the
doct said that I was worse
but I dont know
whether to believe them
or not for they have so many
to care for that they cant
tel I dont believe there
are has
one of our boys died in the
Hospital and another one pretty
sick and there has seven or
eight died in the Hospital
out of the rest of the companies
there was one died out of Johnies
Co last knight his name was
Spaulding the most of them
die with the information on
the lungs Fred felt sick when
he opend that awful letter
for we dont get any silver
here nor and have forgot how
it looks but we got
apart of our pay. the next day
and we expect the rest
in a few days but we
may not get it in one
month or more but I shal
kep what I have until
we get the rest for it wont
pay to send it home for
we onley got 35 dollars
but Kate you take me down
on that last question you
asked it is a damper on me
you asked to say if I did
and you said that I shouldn
t but you tell me what it
is and I will try to answer
you but you must excuse
this bad wrighting and all
mistakes for I dont feal very
well now and a bad place to
wright you tell Sarah that
she mustnt be afraid
of her friend for I
can sea Johny any time
that I want to but I
havnt seen him in a long
time but I must finish
for I am geting cold here
but I want you to wright
as often as you can and
I will that you get your
pay for it wright son and
