Dear Friend
Kate I now take
the oportunity of writing a few lines to
let you know that I am stil where
folks live and die I got so that I
filt prety smart and went out dores
and there took some more cold just for
a change and last night I had
cind of a rough time that made
me think of Grand Rapids for a
minute but I am in hopes that I will
get so as to go to the Regiment in a
short time but cant till I take it
as it comes when I cant help it
but this is not place to get discouraged
for then one would go up in no time
I am livin in hopes of beter days
But I dont know but what we
will
will see some hard times
first they say that the war is
going to come to a close in
two years and that is a short
time well I wont write
any more O I forgot
I got that letter
that you sent in Freds
or Reams and I dont
know what there was

of thar Sargeants fetched it
to me
