Dear Wife,
Once more I sit down to tell you that I am well. I have just got back from Lexington and had my dinner I done a very good thing for myself. I pased a five dollar bad bill and got three and a half good money and the balance in tobacco. And that just sets me up again. Ha Ha. I have nothing new to tell you only that I don’t get any letters from you or anybody else. I wrote you from Falmouth and two from Heere, one to Firm from Falmouth and one from here and I think that it is high time I was getting some snwers but I supose I will have to wait till they come. There is nothing more said about the pay but I guess it will come soon. There is no news about the war. One of the teamsters has got a cincinati daily paper and I must stop to hear the news. Devil take the luck I spilt my ink. I tryed to finish this with a pencil but I could not so I went to the sutlers and got some. There was no particular news in the paper. Everything is very dear salt is worth $9 per barrel sugar 15 to 18 cts meal is cheap 1 cts per lob and we have pan cakes twice a day and fried mush once. I had the back door trot last night. I went to the hospital and got a dose that fixed me all wright. I have not heard from Charly since Land come from there. Land is poorly he has the ague and a bad coughf. John Davis is play of he pretends to be sick so as to get out of working. I always thought John was a good fellow but he is the bigest shit ass in the regiment. There is no acomodation about him. Our company did not get any mail to day. I am looking for a letter from you every mail. Ellen I cant think of mutch to night but I will write again this week so no more this time from your afectionate husband, my love to you tell all to write and you must write oftener.
