Camp Bullock March 27th 64
Dear Wife
I must tell you
that I have got back to my
Regiment I came back yesterday
feel pretty smart but not
able to do very hard duty but
shall be in a few days,
I had not been in camp not
more than one hour before who
should come in but Thomas and
Watson dident we have a sociable
old visit talking about home
and the first that we knew
it was most twelve oclock
little did I think that the
next time that I saw Thomas
that we would be in Virginia
but I may see more from
Iosco yet I found George Elliott
George Disbrow and Smith in
good health and spirits
Well Julia I saw Martin Ross
the first man that I knew
after I got into Camp yesterday
he came up to me to shake
hands but gave me his left
hand instead of his right for
he had shot his right thumb
off about a week ago but it is
a doing well the boys think that
he had an object in doing so
After I had got my napsack
off Mart told me that there was
a letter over to the Michigan
third and that Allen Shattock
had it so Mart went over
and got it for me how it
hapened to go to that Regiment
is more than I could tell
I was glad to hear that you
were well and how I would
liketo of seen little Freddie
when he got up and walked
acrost the house bless his little
heart how I would like
to see him run I suppose
Grandpa Caswell will take comfort
a playing with him now and
he will not be so troublesome
to take care of without his
little fingers finds lots of mischief
and that they will I know if
I was to home how I would let him
goeit wouldent I Julia
In the letter that I received
from you last night you wrote
that you had written two since
you had recieved any from me
now I will tell you how many I
have written this month I wrote
to you March the 3rd the 10th the 17th
the 19th the 23rd and this one which
makes six so there must be
something rong and what it
is I cannot tell I have written
nine letters this month I have
written to Mother to Silas and Mr Conrad
I have written to you when
I have had to lay down and
rest before I could finnish
the
it and I shall write often
shall be glad when we can
get mail regular I am afraid
that if Mr Williams leaves that
Harriett will make a poor fist
doing chores and of cource you
cannot help her but do what
you think is for the best for
you are boss now and I guess
that you will make a good one
Tell Frank that the little
English man is all right
and I guess that he thinks
that she is, now school mom
what do you think of that
now Frank if you will stop with
my gall when you get married
I will pick up chips for you a
week I think that is a good
offer dont you
