Dear Wife
I thought that
I would write to you again
to see what the trouble was
that I cannot hear from
home I have written this
will be six letters home
and have received one that
was written the 11th of Febuary
have not received any since
I tell you it seems rather hard
here in the Hospital among
strangers and cannot hear from
home George Elliott gets letters
from home very often why cant
I it cant be that you make
mistakes in directing them for
I put the directions in every
letter that I have written
I did not know but there
was one over to my Regiment
but Elisha Wright was over to see
me yesterday said there was
none for me said that Noah
Vangorden was coming over to day
to fetch a knapsack that belonges
to a man that tents with them
and if there was one come last
night he would send it by him
Noah came as I was commencing
this letter but fetched no letter
for me but I am able to
write my own letters and shall
keep writing I am so as to
be around and to day they have
put me on full rations but
rather poor fodder it has
been very pleasant weather
for a number of days but
to day it rains like shot
I wrote to Silas the seventh
hope that I shall hear from
some of you soon Julia
I am quite anxious to
hear from you how you are
a getting along and how Freddy
is I dream some nights
of being to home but when
I come to get hold of you
or Fred It wakes me up and
I find myself in Old Virginia
once more I have not written
to Mother yet but you can
tell her that I should if
I had been able that I
will write to her in a few
days tell James that he
nead not wate for me to
write first but write as
often as he can I will try
and answer some of them
I have a poor pen and
haveto write on my knee
and what you cannot makeout
you must guess at for I can
barely read it myself
Julia enclosed you will find
a certificate of my enlistment
which I wish you to take care
of and will entitle you to the
releif fund now Julia write
as soon as you receive this if
you are not able get Florance
or your Father for I wanto hear
from home so bad that I
am getting quite uneasy a line
from home would de me more good
than a box of pills so no more
this time
This from your affectionate
