Dear Wife
It is Sunday
morning but it does not seam
much like it here I am
well hope this may find
you the same we left the
fort last Wednesday the 10th
in the morning a Steamer
came down took us up to
the City and there we took
the cars for Toledo from
there to Cleveland from Clevel-
and to Pittsburg here we left
the cars and was marched
into the nicest Hall that
I ever saw where they had
everything that was nice to
eat and a plenty of it stopped
there four or five hours then
to Harrisburg and took supper
the next evening nothing to
to brag of there from
there we went to Baltimore
arrived there yesterday in
the forenoon stopped there
the remainder of the day
until eight in the evening
then started for Washington
arrived here at three Oclock
this morning then was
marched to the Barracks
will stop here until
Tuesday morning we had
a pleasant journey the
weather has been fine and
this morning seems like
April the ground is
dry and nice getting around
Julia I can hardly write
atall for I have nothing
but my knee to write
upon and there is so
much noise there is two
violins a gowing and I
cannot tell how many
there is a dancing and
playing cards and singing
songs and every thing that
you can think of
We was paid of last Monday
which was the 8th of Febuay
but our seventy five
dollars happened to be
Seventy three and sixty
three of it I have sent
home to John Fewlass
all of the
[ ? ] boys sent
their money to him on
in the care of him
and wish him to distri
[ ? ]
it to their families
and take his pay for doing
so we thought of sending
it to
[ ? ] by express
and sent Elisha Wright
to the City for that purp-
ose but he came acrost our
Sheriff Wm Hartman and
sent it by him though
twould be less expence
tell Father Fewlass to pay
McPherson fifty dollars
and keep the rest yourself
except three dollars
which you may let Hiram
have I must close for
there is so much noise
that I cannot hear myself
think kiss my little boy
for me So no more at presant
from your husband
