Regiment: 9th Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Louisville ky Aprile the 8, 1864 Dear brother & sister I take this opertunity of Wrighting you a few lines to let you Know how I am I have not ben Very well lately but feel better Now one doctor said I had the Chronic bronchitis & this one hear Says it is the chronic pleiursey but I guess they dont either of them know & I hope when this reaches you it will Find you all well I received a letter From Ellen Iner while at Knoxville & Answered it but did not stay long Enough to git a answer [ ? ] I Was sent to Nashville & from there Hear & I dont know how long I shall Stay hear perhaps all summer & I may Not stay a week but wright everyday soon as you git this & let me Know what you & all the rest Are a doing [ ? ] hear to day but the grass is up quite big good feed hear 2 I want to know where mother is & how she Is & if you hear from charles [ ? ] & how they are I heard betsey was verry Sick & how oliver gits along & why he Dont wright to me & how you all git Along & if you all hav as mutch trouble As ever with each other I hope not eneyway I should wright oftener but I havnot got But this invelop & 1 more sheet of paper I hav not ben payed yet I wrot to Maranda for some stamps while at Nashville but came away before it Was time for an answer so I suppose They will go thare & I will never git them & she sent me some money While at knoxville but it would Not go hear nothing hear but green bucks is good but I shall git pay next month if I stay here then I will Wright often so you must not Wait for me to wright for I Should like to hear from you every week 3 So you will hav to pay the postage On this but I hope the next one I wright I can pay it myself well alford I hav seen some hard times since I Left home I come pretty nigh [ ? ] at Knoxville during the seige I will tell you all abought it when I see you again but I am further North now & git good fair hear but If I could be thare I could [ ? ] myself eaven better than I do Hear well I suppose you hav got quite Well acquainted with Mrs pickle by this Time & I cant say how meney more but as For me I am light but would rather See my Old gal & little girl than eney Baddy I know of well how does oliver perform around the [ ? ] now you Must tell him it dont pay it is played out if you when you see maranda tell Her I am well I wrot to her the other Day well I shall hav to close for this time The doctor has ben around & Prespribed some milk punch for me & then I git it I will drink your Health I will close hoping soon to Hear from you I still remain yours &c from Hiram Libby to Mr & Mrs Alford Hunt good by Direct to Mr Hiram Libbey Brown Hospital Number 7 Ward Number 8 Louisville Kentuckey Put that all on & it will come be here & put all on
