th
there was a bridge burned down
out by lookout Mountain and we
dident get any mail for sometime
your letter found me well as usual
and that was pretty well. George
was pretty awhile ago but he is
getting quite tough again, we are
about eighteen miles from Chattanooga

Myron and Theodore are here too. There
is seventeen of our Co here to work
and Co C are getting out the
timber for us to raft. I suppose
that you dont see that picture yet
I went down town day before
yesterday on purpose to get it
taken but it comenced raining
just as we got down there
and it rained all the afternoon
so that I couldent get it taken
and I had to start back early
yesterday morning with the teams
that brought up the rations and
we had an awful time for it
rained all day. I thought my
arm was not through and through
but the other was all right fo
I dident have any rubber blanket
with me. George has gone across the
river to day to a little village to
buy some butter they wanted me to
go with them but I told am that
I had an all days job on hand
to answer your letter, and they allowed
I had. I was over two weeks ago to
day and took dinner over there. I suppose
that you would like to know what
we had for dinner. We had bread and
milk and butter and green peas
we dont have much news from
richmond was atlanta it seems to
to be quiet all around. But I think
that we will have richmond by the
[ ? ]. I hope so at least. I have
got fine dollars that I shant want
to use before next pay day and I
am going to send it to you to
go to the fourth with I guess
that you can

thing to write that ish so I
saw all the boys who I was down

getting tough. Wells and Dennis and
Frank
[ ? ] have been sick and
are getting better but Wells and
Dennis look quite bad yet. They all
think that I stand it firstrate I
havent been on the sick

and I hope that I shant have to
while I stay in the army
I have had a letter from
hudson since I first came down
here, but I am looking one every
day. I have had one letter
from Aunt Mina but I have not
answered it yet and I dont know
if I ever shall. I dont know how
long we shall stay in Chattanooga
I hope that we
[ ? ] stay a great
while for I have got tired of staying
in the city but I like it firstrate
where we are now but I dont
believe that we will stay here a great
while. I cant think of any more to
to write so I have yet to stop
that isk so. We go our
