Monday Evening
Savannah Ga
Dec 26th 1864
Dear Sister
I am very glad
to let you know that
I am well after so long
a time, and I should like
better to hear from you
I tell you met we have
had a hard march but we
have all got through all right
we only lost one man out
of our Co. but I tell you
we have about striped the
Southern Confectionary. I must
go to roll call. Roll call is
over there wasent but a few
present for there is forty men
on guard.
Oh Met I wish
that I hadent comenced my letter
to night for have got the tooth
ache so that I cant think
of any thing so I will bid
you a silent Good Night
Tuesday afternoon Dec 27
Well Met how are you to
day I hope that you are well
I am ill right to days it
is very pleasant here to day, Met
do you remember where I was a
year ago to day. Ill bet you
so I would like to be there to
day wouldent you, Met where was
you Christmas and how did you
enjoy yourself. I hope that you
enjoyed yourself as well as I did
but I am afraid that you dident
for I am afraid that you was
worring about George and me, but
I enjoyed myself tiptop in the
city of Savannah. I was to work
all day as hard as I could a
building a tent I tell you we have
firstrate winter quarters a ready
and we only got here least
Friday, oh Mariette I that
I could see you about six weeks
for I havent wrote any in so
long that I cant think of any
thing to write and I dont know
how to tell what I do know.
I thought if I ever got through
on this march that I could write
you a long letter but I fail
to see it. I suppose that you
have seen segt M. Creager
so I cant write any thing about
him, but I would like to have
him back here again, well I
might as well stop writing first
as last for I cant think of
anything. What you must write
me a good long answer to
this and I will try and do
better next time write way
