Dear Sister
I will now try and
answer your letter that I
have just recieved. I was
Glad to hear from you but
I should like to hear from you
oftener you asked me why I
dident write to you oftener I
answered your letter as soon as I
recd it but yours was dated
the sixth of July and I dident
get it till after the 20th
your letter found us all well
I never felt as well in my
life as I do now only I
have got pretty sore eyes but
I no duty.
We left the woods
last Monday Morning and we
got down here just after dark
Monday P.M. But we dident
have no march there was thirty
three of us came down in an
an old
[ ? ] me had a fine
time. We would stop and get
apples and green corn once and
and a while. Me brought
down about twenty bushel
of green corn dinner is most
ready and I shall have to
wait and finish my letter
after dinner what you dank?
I shall have to or go with
out my dinner and you know
that I wont do that.
After Supper I suppose that
you see that I dident finish
this letter after dinner. I have
been to work
[ ? ] the last help
-ing lay a platform and it
made me sweat like the
old harry. It is awful warm
weather down here now. But
it isent as warm now as it
has been you said you thought
that you had done a hard
days work. But I cant see it
hard work to go a visiting. I
should to go visiting the ladies
very much. I dont know what
you can think of me you say
that you have lots to say and
dont know how to say it
I had rather pack a rail two
hours than write a letter I
wish I knew whether Pa wanted
any money or not we are going
to be payed off in a few days
and if I was sure that he dident
need any. I shouldent draw any
but as I ante sure I guess that
I will take it. I sent you $5.
Just before the fourth as a present
you never said whether you got it
as not. I bought me a revolver
just after I came down here
and paid 15 dollars for it and let
one of the veterans take it
to canada and he lost it and
paid me sixteen dollars for it
I havent had any letters from
Hudson in a long time and I
dont know if I ever shall
we are going to leave here
a week from next Monday
or there abouts. We expect to
go down to Marietta
it is about a hundred miles
from here. Ok I cant write
you must write as often as you can
and I will do the best I
can write soon, from
Sabe
