Regiment: 1st Michigan Engineers Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Chattanooga Tenn Aug 21st 1864 Sunday Afternoon, Sister Mett I just recd two letters to day and as Good luck would have it one of them was from you I was glad to hear from you and the rest of the folks and to hear that you were well. Myron and George have not got back yet but we expect them back tomorrow there was thirteen of the boys came down to day with the logs and they said that the rest of the boys were all well. Ike [  ?  ] was here the other night he said that the rest of the boys looked firstrate all but frank Well he says that he is awful fool Will Knapp is cooking they had a little squirmish the other night with the [  ?  ] but there was no one hurt. Old Wheeler has been trying to make a rade on the rail road between here and Ringold but he hasent made out much yet. It has been raining most all day but it looks as though it was going to clear off now it has rained a little every day for quite a while but who cares as long as we dont have any thing to do. I have done but too days and a halfs in three weeks so you see that we dont have very hard times now. I never seed pass away as fast as it does here. Oh hum. I cant think of any thing to write. I wish that you were here to tell me something to talk about if you can read this you will do better than I can. I dont see how austa ever came to go with me to a dance she cant be as large as she was. I guess that I had better stop where I am excuse this short letter and I will try and do better next time write to me as often as you can of it is twice a week no more from your Brother Sabe
