Dear Sister Mariette
I take my pen to inform
you that I am well and never
was better contented in my life
than I be here I have just been up
to camp and seen the boys. Ike is
in the hospittle he has had the chill
fever he looks pretty bad but he is
getting better the rest of the boy are
all well George is getting fat every
day he says he is comeing down to
the mill as soon as he can.
I
just got a letter from nettie father
done better with the
[ ? ] than I
thought he would I should like
to see my broth inlaw Mr Erner
but you must tell him write to me
and let me know how he is gett
ing along but if wont
[ ? ] will
I guess I had better change the subject
and take one of more importance. George
and me were up on lookout mountain
last sunday I tell you it is
enough to pay a fellow four times
over for the hard work it it takes to
to get up there but I never expected
to see lookout when I enlisted but
I have seen enough to pay me for
staying down here. We are looking
for the old vetterans back every day
I must got to dinner. Well Mariette
it is all most supper time and
I will try to finish my letter
it was my relief to work
this after noon but the pump wouldent
work so I havent had to do any
thing all day but I guess that I
will have to work a little yet for
they have go the pump fired and
they are fireing up but I dont care
much for it is after four oclock
I only have to work six hours
a day and have a good warm place
to stay and lots of company
this is thirty six me to work here
and hank stone has got a good
fiddle and I tell you we have some
fine dances well you know me
must have the mill has started
and I must come to close
you must write as often as
you can for I like to get
letters as well as any other
feller From Sabin
To Mariette
