Rosecrans Nashville, Tennessee September the 8 1863 Dear Friends I take this opertunity to let you know how I am at the hospital in this town. I was taken with the bilious fever but am about well I stade in Camp untill the regment got orders to march and the leuten thought I was not able to march as far as they was going so he sent me to the Hospital this is a nice place for one to stay The regment has gon to Alabamey but dont no wat plase I expect to go in a week or two It is sumk hunderd and fifty miles from heare Things is going on fine in this part of the armey this state will soon be clear of rebels The papers state this morning that burnside has taken east Tennessee and Rosencrans is at Chatenuga. and we will drive them to Richmond there is a bout one thousand solders in this hospital and there has bin a bout four dy in a day and thire plenty coming in every day you must not be uneasey a bout me for I think I shal be well in a few days so that I can go to my regment I have not got much to right so I will bring my letter to a close you must direct your letter to Nashville Tennessee Genral Hospital No. 19 Ward No 2 Give my love to all Nelson Hopkins Send me five dolers if you have got it handey
