Jane I wish it was me that
was to leave for home in the
morning not because I am sick
of war for I do think that it
is a just war on our part & I am
willing rather than submit to the reign
of the Southern Dough faces I
would be willing to remain from
home almost
[ ? ] But I tell
you when I think of some of the men
or are so called at home it fair
ley makes my blood boyl now
I mean those who try to discorage
enlistment & are still crying
peace I tell you I never want to
see peace untill it is restored on
the right principles & I think they
are these Take the propertys
of all disloyal men whether he
be north or south & confiscate
it to the use of the United Sta
tes I never thought it right to
liberate the Negro without a
compensation to their masters
But now I think it has become
a military necesity & now in as
much as their masters have
taken up arms against their
own free land I think we cant
punish them to mutch & if I mis
take not some of them are getting all
they advertised for about Charles
ton now a days but enough
I received your kind letter
of the 25th Aug & Nom 3 was
glad to hear that you were all

tion of our raid in Miss yet

to keep the letter untill I come

well & I hope they will take good
care of it for I know there is
money in it & am shure they
will do well with it
