Dear parents
I take this oportunity of adressing a few lines to
you to inform you how I get along we are all well
at present and enjoying ourselves very well only we
are out of money I dont think there is one
dollar in the Company with exception of the oficers
part of the regiment has started for Little Rock
Arkansas seven companeys went yesterday and the rest
of us are going to day we have not drawed our horses
yet nor arms either we have got muskets and
they say they are going to make Infantry of us
but they will have a good time of it I guess
for the men and oficers says they wont stand it
Albert is well he is ordily for Colonel Hatch
but I guess he will go to I dont know you wrote
in mitchells leter that you thought I was
smart for not writing. I will try and explan
this thing in the first place I have write and
have not got an answer and in the next place
I have not got any postage stamp nor money to
buy them I have borrowd all I have used for some
time and I have got ashamed of asking for them
I calculated to get some Photographs taken before
I left here but I could not get the money
but as soon as we get where we can draw
our pay I will get some taken without fail
now you can depend upon it if there is such a
thing and when I send them I want you to give
Trude one of the best and the first time you see her you
tell her if she will send me her picture, she can
have mine first but she knows how it is
and you give one to Aunt Clista. Mitchell seams
to think that we will get out next September
but I cant see the point yet but never mind
when I do get out I think I will stay for a
while well as much as thirty days any how
well I will close for Mitchell is going to write
so good bye for this time from Edwin to
Mother and Pa and Vicky and Jane
