Regiment: 3rd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camp near Jackson Mar 4th Dear wife I have seated myself to answer to your letter written at Burr Oak Feb 22nd was glad to hear that you were all well & can say we are enjoying the same good health at least I am for I never was as fleashy in my life I weigh 162 ½ lbs I also received a letter from Mother they were all well & Ed Rec. one from Hellin Eckler Jane you will have to excuse me in not writing a long letter for we have marching orders it is now about 5 oclo & we move at six & whilst I write the rest of the Boys are preparing to go some are feeding horses others are cleaning them rolling their blankets & packing their saddles for the scout We are to move out to Lexington about thirty miles distance & probly will stay a week or two but you must write just as often & I will answer them Jane Elder Hammond is here & is our Chaplain went to meeting last sabath & had a good Sermon Jane let me tell you Orin Cross has been reduced to the rank for not doing his duty & getting drunk now dont tell any one of this for fear of making a bad smell Jane I got your letter that you wrote the night before going out to Burr Oak & answered it & also sent to you ten dollars write if you got it you did not write anything about little dan. Give my best respects to all Daniel & Mary must write & all of the rest you will have to excuse brevity & mistakes Yours truly Kiss little TrudyM. H.
