Regiment: 3rd Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Little Rock Arkansas June 1st 64 Dear Wife I will improve the minutes I have in informing you of my health which is very good at this time and so is all of the rest of the boys Jane I received a letter from you last night which bears date of May 20th 64 and be assured that it was perused with the greatest of pleasure and I also received the one you wrote while out to Lawrence Jane I can never tell you how much I woried for it seemed as though I was going to hear bad news from you But I never was more pleased than when I heard you was getting better Tell Carl I am very much obliged to her for writing And I hope I may do her as good a turn Jane I know you must be lonesome but you know now what it is as some do and I hope to God you may never know there is a camp of Refagees near here and in it is depicted the horrors of woe and misery they are men and women & children who have been drove from home by the Rebes or been jay hawked by our men & now have taken up their abode inside of our lines for protection Jane I cant write much as the mail going out in a few moments & I want this to to go you will Excuse me I know as you ever do keep up the best of courage I know you do & Kiss Trudy for me Give my best respects to all and reserve all you want for your self Excuse brevity M H Hogmire
