Dear Wife
I will improve the minutes
I have in informing you of my
health which is very good at this time
and so is all of the rest of the boys
Jane I received a letter from you
last night which bears date of
May 20th 64 and be assured
that it was perused with the
greatest of pleasure and I also
received the one you wrote while
out to Lawrence Jane I can
never tell you how much I woried for
it seemed as though I was going to
hear bad news from you But
I never was more pleased than when
I heard you was getting better
Tell Carl I am very much
obliged to her for writing
And I hope I may do her as
good a turn Jane I know
you must be lonesome but you
know now what it is as some do
and I hope to God you may
never know there is a camp
of Refagees near here and in
it is depicted the horrors of woe
and misery they are men and
women & children who have been
drove from home by the Rebes or
been jay hawked by our men &
now have taken up their abode
inside of our lines for protection
Jane I cant write much as the mail
going out in a few moments
& I want this to to go you will
Excuse me I know as you ever
do keep up the best of courage
I know you do & Kiss Trudy for me
Give my best respects to all and
reserve all you want for your
self Excuse brevity M H Hogmire
