Michigan Volunteer Cavalry 1st Regt, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division Army of Cumberland Camp, At Stevens Wood Ala August 21st, 1863 My Own Dear Aunt I received your kind letter of this 11th and right glad I was to hear froms you. it found me well and on duty and I am glad to hear that it left you is Such good health but I am Sorry to hear that Uncle Pops health is not good and I hope that he will Soon recover his good health again Well Aunt, I Supose that you would like to know what I have been doing since I last wrote to you well I have been doing lots Since then I have been Sick and got well again and have Seen Some awphal hard times but hard times an old Soldiers count them and I will defy its teath but never mind I think that I shall come and make you a visit Some time next Christmas or Newyear that is if something dont happen by [  ?  ] than a woodchuck. just think I haint onley months more to stay any way their I shall See how old [  ?  ] looks and I think that I shall See how that little pet of mine looks and think that I shall [      ?      ] [  ?  ] He bet that I shall [     ?     ] So hard that She will Squeal out like a Snaping turtle or else she will coo out like a Mourning Bird in the morning. but then I guess that she wont [     ?     ] do you think she will.
