Regiment: 1st Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Camped Near Alexandria V.A. Thursday Sep 25th 1862 My Dear Parents I recieved your kind letter of Sep 14th in due time and was very glad to hear from you once more your letter did not find me very well. I have had th and have not got over it yet but feel pretty well this morning the best I have for some time – We are encamped now within two miles of Alexandria, the Bank of the Potomac is is a beautiful place it is with in sight of Alexandria and Washington and at any time of day steam boats can be seen passing to and fro on the river I think that we shall remain here some time for the purpose of recruting up there has a number of Officers from the regiment gon home recruting and one Private from our Company by the name of Farberass he is at Paw Paw and I think that he will be at Kalamazoo some of the time. Orlando is well I suppose that you have heard where Nahum is befor this time but for fear that you have not I will tell you. he and three more mor from Comp I are at Camp Chace, Columbus Ohio they were taken Prisiners + Parolled Give my best respect to all that inquire for Forbes write soon
