Regiment: 1st Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Washington City 26 Camp Rucker Nov 26 Tuesday Afternoon Ever Dear Parents I have just received your kind letter and was very glad to hear from you for it had been so long since I had heard from you. I sent a letter to you one week ago to day which you have got ere this I think I am not very well have got a very hard Cold but think I shall be better in a few days. Nahum Gilber is getting better very fast. I went and stayed with him last night he has a firstrait place to stay he could not be used any better to home than he is there. I hope that he will be able to come back and take charge of the Company before long for the Surgent that is acting as Orderly now makes rather bad work of it. Orlando is well. E. W. Lusk is promoted to Surgent Major of the sechand division he is abou the same R Lusk that he use to likes whiskey just as well as ever but can not get it quite as often as he use to but that makes now odds he is a [  ?  ] thought I would not write it. Tuesday Evening I once more sit down to write you a few lines Yesterday the first division wer paid off and they morning took their leaf for a new camp about three miles off the rest of the regiment is here in Camp Rucker they have not been paid yet but the report is that we will be paid tomorrow where we will go I know not there is so many fals reports through Camp, but I hope that we will get out of this Camp before long. I wish they would take us South farther for it is getting mighty Cold here with now more clothing than we have got You spoke of Orlando writing about ther being three battles so near that could hear the guns and see the smoke I never heard any such thing he might but I guess not. You sayed that you know was agoing to take place at Ward Christmas well I thik that I could guess I should try. it will be very doubtful about my coming home Christmas but shall try Frank is married is he well I dont know as I have any objection. Young folks all ways would get married and I suppose that they always will have nothing to say to him I had forgot there was such a person untill Spoke of him tell Charles that I hav not got any answer to that letter Mother I wish that I could just step in that old Shanty why did not Alice write this time give my love Frank wife not to Frank Write Soon Cary Wen you get this do not wait before you answer if because some one else is writing you are the only one that write the news Cary
