Regiment: 1st Michigan Cavalry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: 1862 Camp Broadhead Feb 8th Saturday Evening Dear Parents I received your letter of Feb 4th today. it found me well with the exception of a cold. I have no particular news to write only of the unexpected death of E.W. Fusk which you will hear of before this reaches you. the free masons sent his remains to Kalamazoo. the morning that he died Orlando wrote to his Father. but shortly after he put the letter in the Office Lieutenant H E Hascall went down to the City and tellegrafed to him I never was more supprised than I was when I hear of his death. I knew he was sick and had go to the hospital he had not been there but a short time. I did not got to see him after he went to the hospital. I know his folks will feel bery badly. I saw Nahum Gilbert to day he is very healthy he sayed tell the people of Oshten that he was well. Orland has not been very well for some time has a very bad coff but is so as to be around there is some talk of our Company going to Haggers town the distance of 25 miles Sunday morning the 9th I did not finish this letter last night and will try to finish it now. This is a very pleasant morning I should like to be in Oshton this morn and spend the day with the friends, but can not but will put up with it. and content myself here. and hope this war will soon close Uncle Anson has seen some thing that I never have but can not tell how soon may. but hope I may never have the chance but if it is nessary I can go with a will ing heart. I do not know whether I got the papers that you sent me to Washington or not. I think there were some papers came for me while I was the hospital. I got the letters. but I wrote a letter to you in January time (I think the fore part) + at my rate I wrote it the Sunday that we received marching orders which I never have recieved any answer. The report is here that all the Cavalry regiments are to be disbanded but 35 I do not think it can be so I bring my letter to a close and bid you good by from your son Cary
