I am very sory that your health is so poor but you must take good care of your health and dont expose yourself on any account my health is very good at present, and I think that I shall soon stand in need of good courage, for they are preparing for a forward movement. Banks has crossed the Potomac with his Army and I guess that we will start by the last of this week, but it is only guess work, we have taken the right of the regiment, on account of the Officers and men being so cool under fire (we are still Co B.) the weather is quite cold and it is snowing today like fury we have to drill four hours per day ie. the two flanking companies we drill the skirmish drill allogating this morning I went down to the creek and washed three shirts two pairs drawers two pair scosk three handkerchief and a towell and got back to camp at noon. what do you think of that, a pretty good Sundays work. I take it. we have small tent to take with us they are in two parts so that each man has to carry half of his house on his back. they are just large enough for two to sleep in the next time I write may be after a battle for we shall have one at Centerville you must take things as cool as posible and whatever you do dont wory and fret about me. and I dont want you to think that I am afraid to go into battle for I am not. and I shall not get killed unless my time comes. there has many a brave lad fell and there are meny more that are not afraid to follow in their footsteps for their destracted country we were mustered and inspected on the last day of February but we will not get our pay till after we see Richmond       I recd three letters from Portland last evening with Nellies and Margarets [   ?   ].
