Dear Sir,
At the last payment of your Company you allowed and witnessed the
payment of Private Amos B. Cooley when you must have been aware that he was
mustered as being in debt to the Gov’t for clothing to the am’t of$35.57. Unless
this amount is collected or stopped against him either on the rolls or on his
descriptive list (should he be sent away) I shall take the necessary steps to stop the
full amount from your pay.
If this man is sent away you will please send me a certificate that you have
entered this stoppage against him in his descriptive list for clothing withdrawn up to
June 30/63 omitted in July and Aug. Rolls. If with your Company, you will muster
him at next muster as being
[ ? ] to Gov’t for that amount & corrected on Rolls of July
& Aug.
Yours Respectfully
W. P. Gould
