Friend Emeline.
This is the second
letter that I have writen to
you and have, as yet recived
no answer, but perhaps the
first one was
[ ? ] so
I will write again hopeing
to hear from you soo. This
will see is the fourth
day of July, and it is
warm enough to bake
bread in the rays of the sun.
but never mind a
soldier can stand any
thing so I will not
complain. We have at
present most a beautiful
camping place near the
City of Jaxon, Tenn.
we are entirely surrounded
by rebbles, but i think
they will come to before
long. I have seane many
hard times since I last
saw you, and have
been engaged in one
vary hard battle, which
was the battle of
Pitsburg Landing, you
have probably read the
account of it. But I
have excaped the lead
mesangers of the Rebbles
and the worst of all the
Camp feavers which had
proven fatal to thousands
of my fellow soldiers.
I should like to know
how Wayland progresses
and should like to
[ ? ]
in to you house and
spend the eavening, but
soldering is vary uncirtain
busness so I will make
no calculations. A letter
is a most welcom messenger
hear in camp, please
write soon and I will
answer promptly. When
I receve a letter from you
I will write a longer one.
