Regiment: 19th Indiana Infantry Battles Mentioned: Historical Figures: Fort Craig Nov 15 1861 Dear Sister I received your last letter and was truely glad to hear from you once more I am well at this time and sincerely hope this Silent messinger may find you enjoying the same good Earthly Blessing we still Remain in Fort Craig But I think we will leave Before long it is thought by Some we will go to South Carolina how that will be I cannot tell but it is certain we will have to march in a day or two we have been laying still long enoug we have Been here about 6 weeks we have got our new over coats and when we get our new guns we will we will march they are now at Washington I have nothing of importance to write to you at this time the Boys are generly in good spirits it is true we have been visited by sickness and a good many of the 19 Regiment have been sick but the health of the Regiment is improving I will try and take good care of myself and come home when ever I can let me know what the folks are all a doing and how they are geting a long and what Kind of weather you have there the weather is not cold here yet it rains about every other day we have had some cold knights but as a general thing the weather has been vary pleasant the likeness you are talking about just keep cool about that you know. Elehue Parker is still at the Hospital if nothing happens I will go to see him to morrow I guess he is geting Better write Soon as you get this give my Respects to all enquireing friends I suscribe myself your affectionate Brother               Ruben Clark
